Alonia Sharps is the Board Chair of Educational Systems Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Greenbelt, Maryland. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Credit Union since 2007 and has served as Chair since 2017. Educational Systems FCU is over $1.2 billion in assets with 86,000 members. Through her years of service, Alonia has played an integral part in working towards the Credit Union’s mission which is to grow by helping the members of the education community achieve their financial goals and dreams. In 2020, 2021 and 2022 the Credit Union was recognized by Forbes as one of “America’s Best Credit Unions” for the State of Maryland.

Alonia is a retired community college administrator, having served 43 years at Prince George’s Community College. She also served seven years in administration at Bowie State University, and one year as a middle school teacher for the Prince George’s County Public School System. Alonia’s professional career included management of $90 million in federal student financial aid funding for students of need in higher education.
